Too long to connect...

We are having a problem with one of the windows servers here. It seems that when users try to connect to one of them (a DHCP server) it connects quickly. If you try to connect to the server with statics ips (USING THE SAME ACCOUNT) it takes forever for the computer to log on the user!!!

What could be happening here?
COuld it have something to do with policies or something?

THanks a bunch.!

I'm a little confused. You are saying when users try to connect to the DHCP server, they connect quickly. Doesn't your DHCP server have a static IP? Usually servers will have static ip's.

Is this a W2K domain or NT4 domain, or a workgroup or what? What OS's are on your LAN. We need some more info.

Yes but the WORKSTATIONS doesn't. They connect via the DHCP server but we have other stations connecting to the server and they have static IPs. The ones with static IPs take a long time to connect, but the ones using the dhcp mode, connect and load the windows profile quickly!1

Can you post a ipconfig /all from a DHCP workstation and one from a static workstation? If the clients are win98 then post the winipcfg.

Is WINS used on the network?

I can't think of a solution off the top of my head, but WINS sometimes causes problems like this.
