win98se startup disk

i want to make a startup disk in order to format and reinstall the operating system on a laptop.

The os is win98se.

Will the start up disk that is made automatically by win98se contain fdisk.exe and other such needed software?

I remember once a member here helped me make a startup disk and add some extra software on to it that would help me during the format and reinstall procedure.

Thanks.

I don't know what's on the start disk from 98 but I do know www.bootdisk.com will have what you need.

The default disk will have 'FDISK'.

FDISK
FORMAT
SCANDISK
EDIT

The only really good one that doesn't come on it is 'DELTREE'. I tend to just copy that from "\WINDOWS\COMMAND" over to the disk after I've created it. You could take the time to recreate the EBD.CAB file that has all the programs that are extracted during the process. You have to make a new one from scratch though, just rename "EBD.CAB" to "EBC.CAB.BAK" and then create a new "EBD.CAB" with WinZip. Drag in all the stuff from the original "EBD.CAB" and put in what else you want as well. I like 'DELTREE' myself. All the stuff you'll want is in "\WINDOWS\COMMAND"

Now when you run the Startup Disk utility, it will include all the other stuff you put in it.
