Event Viewer Errors: True Vector Engine

Ok here's the lowdown: Been getting a few bsod's for the 1st suddenly. Last few are saying "IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL or something very similar to that. First thing I do is check for IRQ conflicts but everything looks good in device manager and system information. So I check my event viewer and I notice many errors over the last few days. All of these errors have the source listed as TRUE VECTOR ENGINE. So I click on properties to get more info and it says this:

The description for event ID (1) in source (True Vector Engine) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE=flag to retrieve this description.

What the heck does this mean??? I don't think these true vector engine errors have anything to do with my bsod's (IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL) because the times and dates don't match. I just happened to check my event viewer and ran across these. Anyone have any ideas what any of this means?

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP1 and just did a fresh format and re-install about 3 weeks ago. Not using ANY other programs or software than when I did before I ever ad any bsod's or any of these true vector engine errors.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

I'm guessing you have ZoneAlarm on your machine. If I remember correctly they used a TrueVector engine in their firewall. If you even think that might be the cause (I seem to remember Branwagen saying something about ZoneAlarm and 2000 Pro) you can try out Sygate. Personally I like Sygate better but that's pretty much an ATi/NVidia kind of arguement so the next guy that comes along my totally disagree with me.

I"m afraid I can't help you much with the IRQ problem. I've only seen that once with XP Pro and it was because my IDE drivers were causing a real problem with my machine. Updating them solved all my problems.

Actually Zone Alarm is my primary firewall. So is true vector engine part of Zone Alarm's code or is it something of MS's that Zone Alarm access' or uses?

As far as the IRQ error and what you said about IDE drivers, you might have a point there. The IDE drivers for the nforce2 chipset are just terrible in my opinion. A lot of angry nforce2 users complaining about their performance.

The true vector engine errors don't seem to be causing any actual problems as far as I can tell. No lock-ups, freezes, bsod's or anything like that. I'm just curious why the errors are there at all. Maybe I'll give Sygate a shot and see if I still get these errors.
