Ok, what distro? I've only done Fluxbox, but it's about the same I reckon. You have to edit a config file to tell X that you want to use Blackbox as your WM. I'm not sure where you should do that though. Sometimes with Fluxbox, you can just type 'fluxbox' to start it. You could try typing 'blackbox' or whatever the program file is named.
Good Luck!

I think you have to edit something called xinit or something similar. You can try googling for that error message and see what it brings up. I'm afraid I can't help much more than that atm, since I've never used Blackbox.

Create (if it doesn't allready exist) a file called .xinitrc (note the period in front) in your users /home directory. Then add the line "exec blackbox" to the file (no quotes). Launch X as normal (startx from a terminal) and you should be greeted by blackbox.

"make uninstall"
And edit the .xinitrc back to original state if required.

lol, do the same for the fluxbox source tarball.
If you're going back to KDE, change the fluxbox line in .xinitrc to startkde
