Does your board have the optional IEEE 1394 controller? I had a simular problem with a Biostar board that had IEEE 1394. The boot time was excessive. The customer didn't have any IEEE 1394 devices attached to the board and it seems the board was stalling while searching for these devices. I went into the BIOS and disabled IEEE 1394 and the boot time returned to normal.

It would be under integrated perpherals. Look for IEEE 1394 controller or Firewire controller. Sorry I can't be more precise but I'm not on a machine that has onboard Firewire right now.
