Automatic Dialing when Windows XP Boots

When my friend boots into windows xp, it automatcially starts dialing. In internet options, we told it to never dial a connection. How can I tell it to stop dialing. When I hit cancel, it tries again. I checked in msconfig, nothing. Thanks.

goto my computer click on network and dial up connections. Delete any connections that aren't required for you to connect and or disable them one at a time to find out the culprit.... also check your isp, software configuration... uncheck any ref. to auto connect.. or the like... good luck T-32

Last time I had that happen to me I had picked up a worm. W32.HLLW.Bymer, to be specific. I agree with sam. Could be spyware too.

Is his antivirus set to log on automaticaly to check for updates?

oh,,, I hear you on that.. right click on an empty space on the task bar. Click advanced and attempt. to remove any programs from your start menu. that you don't want to start.. then attempt to delete them... I use the word attempt because it will be hard to get rid of.... run the programs recommended by these other guys... stand up programs...
