What to do with relics

I just got a bunch of IBM systems given to me.They are all 486 with 16mb of ram. What would be the best thing to do with them other than throw them away

They are complete,500mb and smaller HDDs 16 mb ram.

Will they run Redhat? I have a copy of that lying around.Or will it take more computer to run Redhat?

The stuff is so old that they aren't worth taking apart, nothing of value

Thanx

I'd donate them to a school, library, charity or whatever you feel like.

i would say that you could get away with a killer tax return if you donate them to any cause.

something that would be really good would be if your company [assuming thats where you got them] would like some PR points and media attention, you could train many local teens how to deconstruct, and reconstruct them in a workshop setting.

that is to say, given that you have a big day off!

i had just over 27 just like what you describe, but they weren't IBMs, and most of them were stripped and poured the best parts together, such as to say, 3 HDDs per system, max out the Ram, etc, and then donated the best of them to a local thrift store.

Linux be a bit SLOW. Ive got one i loaded DOS 6.0 and SEAL 2 on just to play with and it zips along pretty well.

So far as the rest, charity probably best bet unless you can find some older folks or neewbs that just want a word processing/e-mail rig. One of those with tricked out 98se install could work fine for such purposes, might look into pumping RAM up a bit, its cheap.

Good luck, i have similar problem. Looking for solution myself.
