Emails Greyed out in OE6

Hey guys!

The same user in the "window enhancer" thread is also unable to open emails using OE6. She says the email is blue when she clicks on it but when she tries to open it it greys out and won't open, no error msg. She d/l'd the update to her mcafee virus scan the other day and received an error telling her to reinstall so she did, seems to be working fine but now she can't open any emails. I was thinking that the d/l she did in some way messed it up or that maybe the scan's settings are interferring but I really don't know. My company usually doesn't deal with these issues. Btw, she is running win98.

When you say "open emails" do you mean "open email attachments"??

In oe6 there is a setting and usually it is checked by default.

Go to "tools/options/security" then there is a check box for "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"....if its checked, uncheck it.

I usually leave mine checked until I see who the email is from etc etc.

If the whole "do not allow an attachment blah blah" is ITSELF greyed out...then it is a registry setting that needs to be changed. Im too lazy to look it up so if its that, just do a search for "John Prophet" and there is a post of mine about 2months ago that has the solution.

She says the email is totally greyed, not just attachments, unable to open plain text msgs. She has the preview pane shutoff. I'll check her options and maybe have her turn it back on to check.
