Outdoors gaming/graphics issues

i have an athlon 2300+ with 256 mb ram running windows xp pro. i have a rage graphics card (not sure on the model or number). my problem is: we do very little gaming, but what little we do are 3d type games. one is "grand theft auto" another is a 3d "civil War" game. often while in the middle of a session (from 5 to 45 minutes) the system reboots itself. in the civil war game it happens only when going to and from a 2d strategy map to the 3d portion of the game. it will hang for about 5 seconds then to the reboot. any ideas? thanks in advance!

Well, you should go to system properties>advanced tab>Startup and Recovery Settings and uncheck the Automatically Reboot. The next time you get an error it should show a message.

And check your logs too.

Send a message via AIM to Droppyale Send a message via Yahoo to Droppyale
it might be that the card is heating up /or sucking too much power from your PSU and therefore rebooting..

So it could be either one. the video card or PSU.

what are your complete system specs?
