is a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 dual head
My NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 has two ports - a DVI and an Analog. Does this mean that at one time, I can plug in a DVI flat screen in the DVI port AND an CRT into the Analog... Or, is it one OR the other and NOT both at the same time?
And, if it is only a single capibility card, are there any PCI cards that are DVI I am already using the AGP for another two screens.
Thanks in advance.
Bob

Usually these cards are just single channel, you can plug two monitors in, they'll just show the same picture. If you want a multi desktop graphics card i would go for a slightly higher end graphics card.

That's what would happen. To get true multi-monitor support you would need a multi-port video card that supports having two independent displays.

Never even herd a Geforce 2 with a DVI on it.

The GeForce2 MX was the first series that supported nView (nVidia's dual-head progra), so yes you could use both.

The GeForce 2 MX supports multimonitor. You can use it to spread your desktop across two monitors rather than just display a cloned image. Quote: From Extreme Overclocking
TwinView:
TwinView is basically the ability to have multiple displays being supported on a single GPU. This technology in NVIDIA's lineup is currently unique to the GeForce2 MX & the Quadro2 MXR. NVIDIA's unified driver architecture offers several different modes for using your display setup.
-Standard Windows® 98 multimonitor support, which spreads the desktop across both displays. You determine the refresh rate, color depth, and resolution for each monitor, given its capabilities. This mode allows you to stretch your desktop horizontally or stack it vertically -- an optimal solution for financial trackers.
-Application exclusive, in which an application may be dedicated to one or both monitors. This mode is excellent for entertainment applications, such as DVD playback, and digital video editing.
-Clone mode, in which monitors show the same output. This mode is useful for presentations. A presenter may use the smaller monitor on the podium, while a projector conveys the data to the audience.
-Application zone mode, in which a zoomed-in section of the primary display's image is shown on a secondary display. With the graphic artist in mind, this mode is perfect for image editing and modeling in CAD applications, image processing/mapping applications.
-Virtual desktop, which supports full pan-and-scan mode, can be configured for one or both displays.
NVIDIA TwinView supports a variety of output combinations* including:
Two digital flat panels
Two RGB monitors (with second RAMDAC)
Two analog flat panels
One digital flat panel and one analog flat panel
One digital flat panel and one RGB monitor
One digital flat panel and one TV
One RGB monitor and one TV
One RGB monitor and one analog flat panel (with second RAMDAC)
One analog flat panel and one TV
*Actual combinations supported on a given board-level implementation will vary.
| This was written before the advent of the GeForce 4 series of video cards.
No other GeForce 2 cards or any of the GeForce 3 cards support multimonitor.

Hmmmm, I hooked up an analog to the geforce 2 mx440 card (second port as the first was a LCD) and the second screen (analog) was just black and did not show up on properties.

Have you installed the newest drivers? nView is included with them.
