will this memory module work with this board

I've been reading mixed things all over the net regarding the compatibility between the KINGSTON KVR333X64C25/512 512MB 32x64 PC2700 DDR ram and the ASUS A7N8X deluxe board. Some people have used this memory with no problems while others have issues.

This computer isn't for me and I have zero plans to overclock the computer. The computer is for my dad who just plans on playing his age of empire, empire earth type games that he has. Here's all the stuff I just recently bought to give you all details.

I just yesterday ordered these items from newegg:

AMD 2800+ Barton CPU
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
KINGSTON KVR333X64 512MB
LITE-ON DVD/CD-RW combo drive
VANTEC Aeroflow heatsink/fan
round IDE cables for the hard drive and combo drive
The case I got is from colorcase.com
RAIDMAX 500W Power Supply.

I checked the Kingston site at www.kingston.com and went to ASUS->A7N8X/A7N8Xdeluxe and from there it showed a list of the memory modules for the board. I don't plan to use the dual memory thing because 512MB seems enough especially with PC2700 memory module so I just wanted to use 1 stick of 512MB.

Two questions I have is, what slot would I put this memory module into when I get it? And my second question but most important is, since Kingston has the module listed on their site and I know many of you are experienced with this board and with many memory companies, will this memory work ok with this board, even though I don't have any plans to run dual mode or overclock the computer and it's components.

Thanks.

One more question I have that just came to mind is, what BIOS settings should I have for the CPU frequency and the memory.

Yes, that board should work just fine with the board.

CPU frequency of the 2800+ Barton is 12.5 multiplier times a FSB of 166, for a total of 2.08 GHz. You're going to want to set the memory clock frequency to 166 MHz, or set it to auto. Running the FSB in sync with the memory clock will give you the best overall performance with the board. And as far as the Dual channel mode, if you need to upgrade to more memory in the future, it can just wait til then. The benefits of running Dual channel aren't all that mind blowing on the AMD platforms, anyways.

As far as which slot to put the memory into, with the nForce2 board, it doesn't matter. You can put it in any of the three slots. For aesthetics though, I'd use the one furthest from the CPU, the one all by itself.
