Sblive! (value or not)

Hey all, this is my first message posting on this message board (I'm definitely not an amateur when it comes to computers either), and I've got a prob with my soundcard.

Using the newest drivers (livedrvpack.exe its about 23 megs), I installed the updated drivers for my sound card. Worked perfectly, for 2-3 weeks. Then all of a sudden, windows says I have no mixers installed, and my system just all of a sudden basically got rid of it. When I go to reinstall the drivers, it comes up with the message "unable to invoke any of the subscribers" or something very similiar to that. When I go to uninstall, it gets rid of them (supposedly), and restarts. But when I go to reinstall again it still gives me the three options: Repair- add remove feats-or uninstall. Two out of the three give the error msg (repair and add/remove feats). I've already contacted creative, they said that its a registry problem and to see knowledge base article 80910 (which doesn't exist), and I sent them another email but they haven't replied. (I've tried the following - sblive cleansweep, manually deleting the sb live registry keys, deleting the sblive install files, and trying everything in safe mode as well)

Welcome to TechImo Kronos288!

Try disabling the sound card, then uninstalling its drivers, retart the machine and reinstall every thing and se what happenes.

Try moving it to another PCI slot, it could be a IRQ conflict.

I think the sblive series wins the all time award for major conflict hardware.....if you do a search on google for "sblive problems" youd bring the internet to a crawl, lol.

I see them at comp shows cheap but Ive always been too scared to try one.

Ive got a few sblives, never had a problem

There was a problem on old via chipsets, but any modern chipset shouldnt have any problems.

Re: Sblive! (value or not)

LOL John pro

I don't think its an irq problem or anything, because even if you don't have an Sblive! you can still install the drivers for it. Creative labs said to go to article 80910 in the microsoft knowledge base, and it says somethin about a video card and stuff, but it doesn't work one bit. I'm still tryin to solve it.
