Missing Office product code

Hi everybody. So I just bought MS Office Standard for use with school. I go to install it and realize there no product key in the little trifold where it says "Dont Lose This Number". Funny thing is it doesn't appear to have ever been there.

My questions are these:

Anybody had this problem with MS products before?
Am I correct in assuming if I call MS they will not really be able to assist in resolving the issue? I figure they probably get a lot of scam calls trying to get product keys.

Don't misunderstand my inquiry, I know there are those dark side sorts of places to obtain an alternate code. But I paid for one I didn't get. I was more curious to see if this is a more widespread problem. The store from which it was purchased said there would be no problem exchanging it for another copy.

I'd take it back where I got it and demand an exchange. I know if you buy Windows XP OEM the product code is on a sticker outside the shrink wrap. I don't know about Office XP. Which version did you buy?

I had purchased the teacher/student version. The product code appears to be, at least supposed to be, on this trifold insert where MS has put a reminder telling me not to lose it. I assume it is supposed to have had a sticker on this trifold. It does not appear there was ever a sticker there, that is, no glue residue or any thing is there.

I also realized I have this in the wrong forum. Hopefully a Mod can set it right. Thank you

Ask to exchange it. If they won't, call Microshaft and tell them what happened and they will cut you a key.
