MSI CD-R problem Reads but doesnt write

Hi, until yesterday my CDR was working well. But now I cant burn any cd.

My system is:
Gigabyte MB
P4 2.0 GHz
MSI MS-8340S CD-RW (I had an optorite but he crashed last month)

With Nero 5.5 it stops and says "error during the fixation". I've tried CD-mate and it doesn't work too.
On MSI support, they say downloade the firmware and install it in Real Dos mode. I have Windows XP and I think real dos is not available. When I try it on the dos command in xp, update.exe runs, but it says:
'quote'
===MSI CD-RW BIOS UPDATE program!!!!(ATK) 0.70===

Scan Bus Now Ok...
Can't Find CD-ROM/RW
'unquote'

Maybe if I can run the update in Real DOs mode it will work, but otherwise I really don't know what to do.

Thanks
(forgive my english...)

Just one more thing to check, are you shore you have nothing else running when burning?
Like a virus program or anything else that can cause conflicts with the burn?

If you can download the firmware to disc and install the drive on a windows 98 and then install the firmware. I had to do this on a Philips CDRW that crapped on me.
