Is my internet dieing???

lately my internet has been acting weird, ill use internet explorer and it will be fine then come back and use it again and it will be slower. and when i play counter-strike i will get huge lag spikes and now im just getting a lot of lag. i dont have any p2p programs running and ive cleaned all temp file etc. run antivirus. and it still is screwed up. is my cable internet dieing???

Cable connections "share" bandwidth with other users, so it may slow down at peak times.

Check all your connections, and watch your modem lights during a slowdown. It will give you some indication of if your signal strength is the culprt.

You can call your ISP for technical support, and they will usually walk you through a connection test.

Is it better after you reboot or is still laggy?

As DD mentioned, things tend to slow down at peak times unfortunately
Do you run a software firewall?
Make sure there isn't something in the background that you don't know about that is running...

i called cox support and they "updated it" and that didnt do anything, i have also unluged everything from the cable modem and router and turned off the computer for about 5 min. and it was still lagging. for those of u who have played counter strike, my ping will be between 50-100 wich is usual then will go up past 100-150 ocasionally which arnt that great. could it be my video card over heating?
