Low battery setting problem

When i try to set my low battery setting lower (default set at 64%) When I move it, after I let go it jumps to 100% and the actual numbers above say 13714% . What is going on here how can I change this setting another way?
Thanks

What is the make and model of your laptop and then with a bit of research maybe we can find out why you are having this battery problem. Also which OS is it running?

You should let everyone know the make and model of your computer. Reason being, some manufacturers use their own software for power settings instead of Windows. An example would be my Toshiba Libretto L5W. Toshiba has it's own power management software installed by default. If you try to change the settings using Windows power management, the changes do not stick. You may be in a similar situation.
