Deciding on speakers! help me!

Ok, I've decided on Klipsch, but there are two different 2.1 speaker systems they have:

Klipsch Promedia GMX A-2.1 Personal Audio System
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...fer=pricewatch

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Personal Audio System
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...fer=pricewatch

the first one looks pretty cool and modern, but why is the other one $30 more? does that mean it's necessarily better?

GMX sucks. Go to CC and listen to the two. The PM 2.1 are fare better than the GMX 2.1.

why spend so much on a 2.1 system when quality 5.1 system (such as monsoon mh-505) cost around the same if not cheaper...but the GMX does suck....jus my 2 cents

I'd never buy a monsoon unless it was one of their highest models, and THEN I would buy something else.

Get the regular PM2.1. I'm on the forums and a person who actually got it said it had a TERRIBLE hissing problem. The satts have an easily audible hiss, even from 3 or more feet away, and as we know, it's not only annoying, but bad for you ears. Also, I like the PM2.1's bass reflex enclosure better than the sub found on the GMX series. More power. Also, better mids on the regular PM (on the GMX they sound very tinny).

Altec Lansing ATP3's will give you 2.1 sound, with enough bass to rival smaller home systems...truly great computer speakers.

Of course, the resident audiophiles around here may differ in opinion, but they sound absolutely great to me...I love 'em.

AAAAAAND, I know last week you could get a set for 60 bucks and got a 50 spindle of CDR's to go with them at office max B&M.

Consider doing reversing the 5.1 setup to do four point surround for gaming? That's what I did with my DefTechs. If the 5.1s you have are any good, I don't see why you would want to duplicate existing speakers.

Klipsch is a name I hear every time I am in the audio section, Hmm what happened? did the whole freaking Klipsch forum fan boys move their location to Techimo.

Klipsch does rule though in my opinion, that’s the problem it is like hey don’t buy Altec speakers because my opinion is better, its not to help people any more, what other people like may be totally different however it does not mean its a bad decision in general. Example ***** is like buy these, well they might not be the best decision for that person.
