Whenever I try to use my CD-ROM (actually, CD burner), CPU goes up and it's difficult to do anything else - everything slows down, even the burning at 12x takes 15 minutes. When copying files from a CD in the drive, it's slow and the system slows down, same with installing games etc. (thank god for daemontools).
My DVD-ROM does not recognize CD-ROMs, but does play DVDs when I activate them through a program like PowerDVD.
How could this be? Could this be a problem caused by bad IDE cables, or could they be placed wrong?
I really have no clue...
