Can't see computers on network

I have a D-Link switch/router connecting my 2 PCs to the net. But the PCs can't see themselves. There is Sygate firewall setup on both PCs if that makes any difference. Both are running win2k SP4.

When I click on "computers near me" I get this message.

Workgroup is not accesible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

PC 1 gives the above message. It won't even see itself.

PC 2 shows itself on the network, but not PC1.

I would completely disable the firewall until I got the network going. Then enable the firewall.

That was a good idea. Now I can see them both from both PCs, but when I click on them all I see is Printers and Scheduled Tasks. For some reason I can't see the HDs. I do have sharing allowed on both.
