What can i do now...

What can i do now...
Hi friends,

System Loaded with xp home (Dell dimension 8300) was running fine. Just thought of installing xp pro. Debug the hdd . Started the installation ..
Error popsup "not enough memory"

Disconnected external peripherals . No Success
taken out modem ,nic and sound card..same error
taken out memory chip one by one.. same error

What can i do now...

umm Maybe adding more ram? Can you give us alittle more specs as to what you got?

How much ram do you currently have?

Is your Hard drive full? Maybe u want to do a clean install of the xp pro?

See we have no Idea as to what you have on that system.

Dell Dimension 8200
RAM -SDRAM 512MB
Intel 845 chipset

Even performed a test on hdd .. Test Passed

Thats strange...
I also have 512 SDRAM and that never happened to me
Maybe your memory chips are damaged, but you took them out one by one, I doubt they are all damaged. When did this error pop up? At the early beginning of the installation? Have you tried again? Maybe this has nothing to do with this but I had a similar problem with Mandrake (Linux Distro), when installation started it needed to load in the memory or somethin like this and it took hours to finish and when it did it said that my memory was damaged. I got scared,started to ask people, and they told me that the CD of Mandrake was damaged... I dont think this is the same thing though but it just poped in my head but nvm. I have never heard about this. Have you already called Microsoft? They usually have great support. Check it out

But it was working absolutely fine. I just tried loading xp pro..
The RAM has passed dell diags
