Audigy 2 Platinum Installation Mod Question

I am installing the Creative Audigy 2 Platinum internal sound system. I am dismayed that there is a grey IDE type ribbon. Since I have rounded silver braided cables, I would like to be consistent with this addition also.I had an extra braided IDE cable that I thought I could use. Bummer pins wouldn't match. Is there a mod available out there?That is, a rounded braided cable for the Aydigy 2 Platinum?

I have seen people take the cable and lay it flat and cut in between the wires all the way to the ends and then make a round cable out of the individual wires. They used colored electrical tape to wrap the wires. I didn't listen to it but it could introduce some sort of noise but it may not, I am not sure the voltages, signals that are transmitted via that cable.
