Systems P4 3Ghz score 940 in 3DMark2003

I have an MSI P4 with an Intel 3ghz 800mhz and 512 of PC2700 ddr ram in parallel with a GeforceFX 5200. My score is around 940 in 3DMark 2003. I think it's really pathetic! Anybody have any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks.

Does sound really low.. however the FX 5200 is um... not all that great, at least by 3dmark2003 standards.

What kinda scores do you get with 2001se?

get new RAM and video card. that pc2700 is hamstringing your system; you need at LEAST 400 mhz RAM to run async with the fsb. (i myself have pc3500, or 433 mhz, running with my 2.4c with a 275 mhz fsb and 5:4 divider, leaving my ram at 440 mhz)

Also, the fx cards aren't any good unless you get a 5900. So your score sounds about right, I'm

Systems

Ive justed checked, its 400Mhz DDR Ram. Ive just bought another 2 slabs of 512mb ram at 400 or 433mhz. Havent got them installed yet.
3D Mark 2001SE said i needed better DirectX when I have the latest.
Thanks for your help so far. Im starting to get the idea. FX 5200 = bad card.

What are your antialiasing and anisotropic filtering set at?
My GF4 gets 380 points with quality settings and 1582 with performance ones.

well the 5200 is a budget card.. try OCing a bit... your 3G should reach 3.5-4 with little effort. also set video to performance settings and see if that helps.

Check also if you don't have FSAA enabled. That could hurt your score with that card!

Your DirectX is the latest, its just that the 3DMark2001 SE was made when DirectX9b didnt exist. So it cant run with DirectX9 since it was made for DirectX 8.1
Just to clear that out...

very correctly put, its a budget card not a bad card
get a ULTRA version and you'll see difference, 5600-5800U series recommended, 5900U if you dont have cash flow problems
