Outlook Expess and Hotmail

Two problems:
1. My Hotmail account decided it would no longer download into Outlook Express. It gives me a you have entered an invalid Hotmail address or Password box. Upon reentering imfo it just loops back to same message. I removed account and then
added it back several times to no avail. Searched web and Microsoft without any solution that worked, in fact they seem to be avoiding issue from forums I've checked.
Any ideas?
2. All mail to my ISP email address is being duplicated into my Hotmail account which is a time consuming pain to delete all duplicates, plus I have to go to MS Hotmail to do it
because of problem # 1. Any ideas on getting things back. I had done nothing I know of to cause these problems but even went as far as uninstalling IE and reinstalling with no result.
Thanks

Remove the account. Reboot. Add the account back.

From their HELP section:

Why am I still getting duplicates of POP messages in my Inbox?

If you chose to leave POP e-mail on the server when you set up your POP account, and you also chose to download all messages to Hotmail, all messages in your POP account are copied into your Hotmail account every time you check for POP e-mail. To stop seeing the same POP messages repeatedly, follow these steps:

On the Options page, click POP Mail Retrieval Settings under Additional Options.

Select the Download new messages only check box for each POP account you have, and then click OK.

I'm sorry but which options page do you mean? OE tools is a drop down menu and there is no POP Mail Retrieval Settings or Additional Options. At the Hotmail site I have Additional Options but none saying POP Mail Retrieval Settings.

Im not sure about hotmail thru outlook expr....but as far as regular pop accounts...you go to

tools/accounts/properties for the account/advanced...then uncheck "leave a copy of messages"on server

I guees this isn't a regular pop3. I just closed my Hotmail account and opened a new one with different name. I then went back deleted old account, created a new one with new name and problem still persists. I even tried to run Hotmail thru my local pop3 account but that failed. What's funny the new two setups I tried each gave me the same invalid Hotmail address or Password box, looping.

Hotmail may be down, someway. Sometimes it just doesn't work with OE, no matter what I do.

You might check out Foxmail if the problem persists. It can d/l Hotmail messages too.

I am now done with it. Do you have Foxmail link and does it work with O/Express? Does it offer instructions on setting up an account and save mail offline in case of crash?

Here is Foxmail.

Yes, it will import from OE but will not export (I think). As for saving files...you can save the entire install folder (which includes all your mailboxes) to another drive and just overwrite everything as need be.

The only reason I stopped using it is it doesn't open HTML directly, it uses your browser.

Thanks, Will report results. One question, won't it let O/E open it in html.

Don't think so, but I didn't really try.
