Still having FTP problems. HELP!!!

I posted this plea for help before, but I'm still hopelessly lost. I use Hippie 98 for my HTML editor and use the Hippie 98 FTP to upload. For some time now, when I try to upload, this is the message I get:
200 Type set to l
200 PORT command successful
550 index.html: Permission denied

Even if I knew what that meant, I don't know how to fix it. My web host and Hippie will not return my emails, and my site needs updates badly and many links are down and need to be fixed. What can I do? I don't know of anything I've done different on my computer, but who knows.

Regards,
Sam Taylor

Permission denied means that currently logged in user does not have sufficient permissions to write into the current directory.

So:
You might have logged in with anonymous user account?
The permissions in your homedir might be set wrong.

Try some other ftp client to verify the problem isn't there.

Thank you for your reply. I haven't changed any of the settings on my Hippie 98 FTP. There really isn't much to set. I log in with my user name and password, like I always have, and I can access the server and Hippie 98 pulls up my local directory and the remote directory. The problem comes after I edit my files and hit "Upload". I don't know what to change to make this work like it used to.

Regards,
Sam Taylor

Ok, it might be too that you yourself have set the file properties so that it cannot be overwritten.
(this is assuming there already is a 'index.html' in the directory)

You need to have write access to the file to overwrite it.
Most ftp clients allow changing the file attributes on a remote server.

No, only hippie I know is a person that lives the 70's or something like that.

My guess is that it's available via right clicking a file and looking at the properties or attributes.
