Redhat 9.0 Installation problem
Hi everyone, I have a problem with installing Redhat 9.0. See, I have a Dell Latitude L400 Laptop with Windows XP installed on one partition.
The problem is that when I boot the Redhat-disc and start to install, it doesn't seem to find my monitor and after the installation begins my monitor goes blank (or actually it "bleaches", becoming whiter and whiter) but the installation seems to continue for a while, but still I have to reboot since I can't see what's happening.
I have looked around on the Net for some help but haven't found anything usefull yet.
I'm also a complete newbie when it comes to Linux so maybe the problem is easily fixed. Just to note, I've tried installing with: Linux lowres, Linux resolution=800x600, noprobe, skipddc and so on but the problem remains.
I hope someone might be able to help me.
Regards
Spiros Lukas

I haven't a monitor available right now to plug in, have to try it later. But the problem doesn't seem to be that the installation stops it's just that I can't see ****, since all turns white. By the way I have an ATI Rage graphic card, that the installation finds.
Maybe I can make things more clear when my problem occurs:
after Testing the disc, when I choose Continue, it says something like Starting Anaconda, installing Redhat.
The it identifies my graphic card as ATI Rage, the it says Monitor unknown, then it finds my mouse and just as it seem to begin the my monitor "bleaches" and I don't know whats happening.
Regards
Spiros

if you have a mouse plugged into the laptop yank it out and do with the install w/out it. kinda annoying but ive had to do that before. you can add it later. you can also use the space bar to advance (tab to move between selections) incase you get stuck on a screen.

Just wanted to let you know that I just managed to install Redhat and solve my monitor problem. I still don't know what caused it but I tried installing with the text version instead and it worked (allthough I'm quite sure that it didn't work before). But still here I am, finally using linux.
Nothing more to add then: case closed.
Regards,
Spiros.
ps. Still, if any of you guys know the reason behind my problem please let me know, it would be interesting to finally find out what caused me so much grief.

RedHat 9 Install "Monitor Shutdown"
Hi folks,
I got 2 RH9 dist., one out of the Linux magazine 9a and one out of the RedHat-Magazine the 9b.
Both of them failed installing after that:
running annaconda....ok
.....
monitor type unknown
mousetype 3 Button .... ok
after that, the RH setup routine starts the x-server for setup in graphical mode.
at this point my Monitor shuts down with following mess:
Attention !!! Out of Range !!! 1kHz x 38kHz
I tried all to re-setup my monitor - but nothing happens.
What could it be? How can I install RedHat???
