hissing on audigy 2

Hi, my first post.

I just build my system - everything went fine. Went to install Audigy 2 and when all said and done, all I get is a hissing sound from the speakers. Really loud too. I can faintly hear the regular sounds in the background but the hissing is masking the sounds. When I put everything in mute, the hissing becomes louder.

I tried everything I can think off. Disabled onboard sound from BIOS - turned on 5.1 - muted inputs except wave.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Do you have DSL?

It is possible you are getting feedback from your DSL line, meaning either your filters that go between the phone and wall are put on wrong, or your sound card isn't compatable. (when you send a fax you hear the dialing through your sound card).

When you disabled sound in bios did you check in device manager to see that you are only showing the right sound card?
