whats the difference?

will someone or "more than one person" be kind enough to explain to me what is the difference between

1) UNIX
2) LINUX
3) MAC
4) WIN

I'm talking about the "architecture" and how it differs from one another. Heres what i know

1) UNIX "one of the first operating system, and still the best"
2) LINUX "a guy modified UNIX and created his own "version" which is also a very good system"
3) MAC "another guy decided that he too would use UNIX to create "mac" (unixed-based) who was also very successful
4) WIN "this guy here decided that he would use a free operating system to create his own.... and start some kind of monopoloy, who was successful at making himself rich.... but also creating a horrible operating system that we can not rely on.

Will someone be kind enough to Explain in more detail what is the difference between UNIX LINUX and MAC -- thanX

mac os runs on and only on mac hardware (not wintel) and was not unix based until os x - os x uses darwin which is esentially bsd unix

windows is the graphical os that was orignally built on dos but has slowly shifted over (bussiness side first) to being based on nt which is based on another os. oh and its bill gates and microsft. its wintel only

linux is diff os which depending on how much you believe the sco may or may not contain a bnch of unix code. orginally made by a collage student whos name i can never spell (somethin like linus trafaldis) there are versions for multiple hardware palatforms including wintel and mac
