Z680 in a truck

Is it possible to hook up a set of Z680s in a truck?

Maybe, you would have to find an amp that gave out similar wattages that the original one did, and just used bare wire connectors to go straight from the amp to the speakers. I've thought about doing a similar thing with Klipsch, but since I don't have a set it makes it kind of hard too...

Well, i was thinking about hooking up the cd player via the heaphone size cable(whatever its called) into the music port in front of the pod station. The only problem would be to find a way to power the speakers.

All you'd need would be an inverter to take the 12 volt DC coming from the battery of the truck and turn it into the 110~120 volt AC needed to power the speakers. If you look on the back of your subwoofer(amp) you'll see a sticker somewhere that should tell you how much input wattage @ 120VAC that the speaker system needs. Just make sure you get an inverter that would be greater wattage than required.

The speakers are 500 watts, would that be too much for the little car battery? Would I need to equip a larger altinator in my truck to keep the battery charged?

Well, what kind of truck is it? Make and model? That can make a big difference. I'd say if you are in a full-size truck, you shouldn't have a problem. Especially in GMC's and Chevy's. Ford's have a higher compression engine, so they take more juice to start up, so that can depend.

Ok, that's fine, I would just check the battery size and see how many Amps it will supply, cranking amps and whatever else it says on it. But, I doubt that you'll have any problems with it as long as you don't get an inverter over 1,000 watts or try to use the speakers with the engine off...

Good luck...

exactly why do u want to put a z680 in your truck? we've had someone put a klipsch 5.1 in his truck and it would skip everytime he would pass over a bump on the road.

and also, when u leave the truck - with the 680s in there, u may end up frying the amp because of the summer heat inside ur truck.

it doesnt make sense, and how are u going to mount the speakers? and another thing, if u get into an acciddent - ur gonna have some 8 pound satellites flying around ready to hit your face.

oh and lets not forget that 20 pound sub - that thing can fly and break ur neck.
