pc400 systemboard model M921LR

I have a PC400 systemboard model M921LR .
I HAVE A 512MB MEMORY.

MANY TIMES, WHEN I AM RUNNING MANY APPLICATIONS AND PROGRAMS, THE COMPUTER REBOOT ON ITS OWN,
WHILE I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A WORK.
I NEED HELP . RICHARD

Could be a few different things.

• heat, CPU temp or case temp is too high
• power suply, could be your not gettin enough juice to your components
• virii

Give me some more info on your comp and o\s.

I HAVE 2 COMPUTERS WITH THE SAME MOTHERBOARD.
I HAVE 2 HDD, 1DVDRW, 1 ZIP DRIVE, 16MB VGA CARD,

MY COMPUTER CASE IS OPEN, TO REDUCE THE CASE HEAT.
THIS STARTED ONLY RECENTLY, AFTER I UPGRADED TO WINDOWS XP.
AND INSTALLED NORTON 2003, AND SOFTWARE TO WRITE FROM THE DVDRW.
I HAD 128MB, AND THE PROBLEM USED TO BE MORE FREQUENT.
WHEN I UPGRADED MY PEMORY THE PROBLEM WAS LESS.
BUT IT STILL HAPPEN, AND THE COMPUTER REBOOT IN THE MIDDLE WHILE I AM RECORDING A DVD, OR CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK IN MY HOUSE,
AS I SAID BEFORE THE OTHER COMPUTER HAS THE SAME MOTHER BOARD AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

AND I CALLED PC CHIP, AND LEFT THEM A MESSAGE TO CALL ME.

I REFORMATED MY HARD DRIVE, AND REINSTALLED WINDOWS XP,
AND INSTALLED ONLY THE DVD WRITER PROGRAM.
I DID NOT INSTALL NORTON ANTIVIRUS, AS NORTON USE A LOT OF THE SYSTEM OR CPUN POWER,.
AFTER I FINISHED MAKING THE DVD FROM MY DIGITAL CAMERA, (LUCKY FOR ME) THE COMPUTER REBOOTED AGAIN.
ON PCCHIPWEBSITE THEY HAVE AN UPDATE FOR THE BIOS.
I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE.
AND I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
I DON'T THINK IT IS A VIRUS , BECAUSE I JUST FORMATTED THE HARD DRIVE.

First off, turn off the caps lock. Thats considered yelling.
Second, are there any errors generated when the reboots occur or does it simply reboot without warning.

It happens with both computers? I would think its a virus shared between them but since you formatted. The blaster virus shuts the comp off thats why I ask.

A bios upgrade never hurts but I'm not sure it would solve the problem. Sounds to me like you have a hardware issue. When did the other comp start acting up?

Check the event viewer under Admin tools in the control panel for any possible leads.

I would suggest looking into your power supply, although the second comp has me thinking.............

The second computer has the same specs.
i found the following error messages on the second computer:
many errors on the second computer, none on the formatted one.

I am not sure if there could be a virus . would norton 2003 find it?

Mainly this happen when I am using a lot of applications.
( copying files to my dvd, noton used to be running in the background, i had a firewall program running too.....)
Now, I did not install them just for testing.
It is less happening, but it did happen once.
Just browsing,or surfing, that will NEVER happen.

it reboots without warning.
no error messages, like after you install a new software that reboot the computer after it is installed.
