Power supply problem?

Hi

I'm having a problem where occasionally when I turn on my computer it will immediatley turn itself back off again (in between posting and the OS loading) Sometimes the OS will load and immediatley the machine turns itself off.

After this has happened, pressing the power on button has no effect, I have to remove the power cable for a few seconds then plug it back in again befor the power on button works, this normally happens a few times in a row before the computer starts. Once it is on there is no problem, it will run all day.

Specs -

Antec 400 watt PSU
Jetway Polaris 400A (VIA KT400A chipset)
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
2 x 40Gig Fujitsu Drives
TDK CD Writer
Sony DVD Drive
Audigy EX Platinum Sound Card

I have recently replaced the motherboard (problem happened with both old and new) so that can't be the problem.

This only started happening when I moved to a new flat (could electrics be to blame?)

I have tried plugged into own socked and also 8 way surge protector. No difference.

The electrics in the flat I moved into were really quite dodgy, I am in the process of rewiring the flat myself and have just completed a new ring circuit in the kitchen. I could move the computer in there for a while to see if that solves it, is it worth a try?

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. The computer is about a year and a hald old and is running windows XP Pro (clean install last week)

Thanks

Martin

yes i think trying it in the new circuit is worth a try . at least you will see if it is the house wiring . go into the bios or if you have a program that monitors the power voltage check it an see what it says . post it here . but if you say it only started after you moved that would make me think it is the wiring in the house that is the problem .
