If I remember right, HyperThreading tells SOME programs (seems to be mostly editing types, and about 2% of even THOSE) that your 1 processor is 2 processors, and then the programs splits the work load somehow and it makes things go faster somehow. You still only have 1 CPU though. The program think you have 2 at half the speed kind of.
If I sound skeptical of HT, I kind of am because I never understand it's real-world potential.
