The TIMO database is being reworked. Try reediting your thread with what you were going to say.

It uses other defragmentation method.

Have 2 or 3 defraggers installed, run full defrag from one and check the fragmentation with another. The other defragger will probably beg to differ with the fragmentation rate than the first.

Defrag 2-3 times to be sure it's defragged

It's just the way they work. The builtin one isn't that great, MS didn't put a whole lot of effort into it.

can't remember where I read, Tom's or ace, or anand,
but they did a review of different defraggers and speed disks thing and it came down to the api or function they were using to move the files, I guess the fast ones were using an older function that was faster but not as reliable, or something to that effect, but then all their newer versions use the slower function now.
That's the gist I remember from the article, I'll try and look for it.

Have never tried it, although I dont have any defragmentation software right now in my machine, I must say that I only use the one that comes with Windows. I think its okay, although I agree that it is definetely not the best out there. If you want a defragmentation program that would take you years for it to finish in a big HD, try Norton's Speed Disk! Its so slow that I can leave it the whole day with a HD that hasnt been defragged for months! And I really dont see any big difference from its results than from the results from MS defragger! (BTW, Windows 98 defragmenter was also very slow)
