Direct Parallel - Win 98 to XP

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a temporary connection between my old 98 laptop to my XP machine. However, I cannot seem to get a direct parallel connection to work. I am not sure exactly what to configure as its quite complicated I belive.

Any help ?

Koal

Start->Settings->Network and Dialup connections->New Connection

One computer:
Next->Connect directly to another computer->Host->Choose port
Other computer:
Next->Connect directly to another computer->Guest->Choose port

The connection will be extremely slow though... The fastest speed I was ever able to have a nullmodemcable connection was 19,2kbs (the maximum speed serial port allows is 115kbs)

Floppy disks, cdrw's, anything's faster than a null modem connection.

There are a lot of threads here that discuss the problems of setting up a network between two computers.

Whether you're 'seeing' the other computer or not, is irrelevant.
