Primary IDE Controller NOT RECOGNIZED

System...P4, 2.4 ghz etc etc

All of a sudden, the system takes a lomg time to boot up. Went into the BIOS and noticed that the primary and secondary IDE controllers are not being recognized.

Could this be my boot up problem?????

If not, any ideas??????

When you say the controllers are not recognized in the BIOS, do you mean the drives, or is nothing showing up at all in that section of the BIOS? Or do you mean Windows does not see the drives or controllers?

Pentium 4, Intel mobo and 2.4 ghz processor. If you need more data, I can get it tonight.

In the BIOS, it lists a primary and secondary IDE controller. The note to the right says "Not recognized" and they are "grayed" out. I suspect this might be the cause of my boot up problem.
