I've always liked Pioneer, but bought a crappy KLH from best buy for 199.00 with 5.1 speakers. The sub thumps, and the d-prologic is sweet. I'm going in with digital optical from the comp and digital coaxial from a stand alone dvd player.
reason is ive been using an old JVC in my room (pro logic surround) and it works great. controls are convenient and the display is easy to read from a distance.
the d811s seems to cost more and have slightly more inputs than the one above but you cannot adjust bass or treble when in surround mode, that doesnt sell me on the pioneer.
also the jvc has a 2yr p&l pioneer 1yr
there are so many to choose from. i would greatly appreciate more input and suggestions
have u checked the yamahas? ur price range should bring u to about the yamaha rxv540 or something like that. i like the "bare" sound of the yamaha receivers - they advertise it as "natural sounding". it supposedly does not add to the audio - it plays it the way it is recorded from the source.
