Burner running way slow

Hey I built this computer about 6 months ago and from the beggining the burner runs hella slow if u r burning drive to drive.....(48x burner) like 3x. If u like copy cd to hd and then pull cd out of burner then pop the blank one in.....(get what I mean?) then it will burn at about 22x-40x.....takes long time to get to 40x though. Does anybody have any suggestions to help me PLZ....?!?!?!? :0)

Ok I have an AU13 mobo with 1gb of ram (2100) 80gb wd hd, 48x24x48 samsung burner, sony 52x cd-r, ATI 9000 Pro. I also just got new ATA cables and it didn't make difference and I used to have a Samsung 52x CD-r and it did the same thing so I got the sony...didn't help. Roxio Burning Software and Windows XP

what positions on the motherboard are the drives? 1st primary,slave--2nd primary,slave.

If you did a direct replacement and it didn't help, try changing the position on the motherboard.

Harddrive is Primary Master and CD-RW is Secondary Master and CD-r is Secondary Slave

I have had problems with burning slow with Roxio products. They way I sloved it was not using it,
