It is very easy to setup and requires virtually ZERO knowledge of databses or PHP. It is quite good as a free BB.

I think it's the best free forums around. I looked at ALOT of other free forum setups, but really like the support and the way it's layed out.

I use it alot... http://www.usalug.org/phpBB2/ is my most visible forum, and it is working great. Quite a few hacks on it, makes upgrading a pain, as i do them all by hand then. But it's nice to keep the hacks and not have to reinstall them all.

Their forum support (on their forum board) is outstanding. Many folks will help if you ever get stuck, and the people that make the hacks (add ons) have their own section, so you can usually get help from the person that made the hack. Pretty cool

Yes, I have to 100% agree...

I'm finishing up an install of phpBB2 on my server, and I must say... well, WOW!!! I don't know how to describe it, but I'm just it's free, otherwise, It would probably cheaper to buy vBulletin if phpBB charged what the software was worth. OSS comes to the rescue again!! Gotta love the penguins...

Your forum's getting better crouse! (Not that it wasn't bad when you started... )

David

EDIT: Hey, thanks for the link carl... That phpbbhacks site is great, it's got alot of the stuff I was looking for on there.

you'all very FUNNY.

if your forums so popular, why you posting here?

btw, only link forum that didn't timeout (no response) was:

http://www.shenkoa.tk/

which leads to:

http://tailsxhd.no-ip.com/phpbb2/

thanks for the popups!

I would not go that far as to say it requires zero knowledge, its not like a grandma could set it up or anything.

Not exactley sure why that's funny....... but let me answer that one anyway.

1. Because I can.
2. Because I like the people here.
3. Because I like to help people.
4. Because it is a HUGE forum.
5. My forum is very specific-techimo isn't.

BTW .......... there are ALOT of people that post here that have their own boards..... not just the few that posted here.

-----------
Not exactley sure you just decided to bash this post........ but EVERYONE has to learn somewhere.......... so get off your high horse...please.

I'm sure some grandma somewhere is very knowledgeable and forum aware. maybe no popups...

...
1. You can do many things. That doesn't validate doing any (ex. I can drive fast, take chances OR I can make toast). Can you long walk, short pier?
2. Except me?
3. Doesn't everyone?

My horse is high? I don't own a horse! Drive around in a VW, occasionally ride a Honda scooter, not mine.

if bashing post is asking totally acceptable logical questions:

you'all very FUNNY.

the less knowledge one has (maybe ZERO), the more dangerous one is to oneself and others. not my rule, the way things work.

what was/is purpose of this post?

totally functional and free forum software works well?
