"access is denied"

I accident locked my most important file then saved it on secondary HDD then reformatted OS on my master HDD. However, that file that I locked with password wont allow me open it anymore! It keep saying "Access is denied". Do you guys know how to crack or force to open it? Please help me!!!

How did you lock it? Exact steps.

And was the original partition it was on NTFS or FAT32 (assuming windoze)?

Can be difficult to get past NTFS security.

Cheers
Mick

Ok, When I set my folder with user and password to prevent someone delete my some important files. After reformat my OS then that file isnt access anymore. But I used the same user and password. Some people said that I need to use encryption to restore my file. How?

If you've encrypted it with XP or 2k, then there is nothing you can do. Please explain what you're on about when you say you locked it, and post your filesystem and OS information.

Not true, if its encrypted and you've lost the key, then it could take like 2-500 years to get the right one to decrypt it. Also, I don't think there's a brute forcer availiable for the encrypting filesystem (as used in Windows) as it would be a pretty futile attempt.
