What is your noise tolerance like?

I try to get the fan with the highest airflow and highest static pressure that stays below about 40dBa. Sunon has an 80mm fan that delivers 50.6CFM at around 40dBa noise.

I'm pretty sure you can mount a 92mm fan on the SLK900, so you can probably find a fan with better airflow at no higher a noise level.
I like Papst, Panaflow, and Sunon brands. www.1coolpc.com stocks the 80mm Sunon I mentioned above... they may also have a similar 92mm fan.

You want the BEST? Try a Vantec Tornado... if you can stand the noise. My 2500+ uses a Coolermaster X-Dream with the fan turned down because it's loud. I have yet to have one crash, even with an OC's vid card and a lower RPM of a fan.

I am searching for a good heatsink for a friend that does not want to drill holes in his motherboard. Like a heatsink that snaps on.

.....?

Heatsinks don't require you to drill holes in the motherboard. P4's have arms that snap down. AMD's have clips. Basically, 100% of the coolers out their rated for his proc will do.

Unless you are deaf, or plan to soon be, you (or your friend, or your friend's family) will care about noise. I started with Deltas some time back, and they are just too, plain annoying. Even headphones don't drown out the whine.

Huh? I can't hear you

I think he's talking about the heatsinks that require mounting holes. Most of the newer Mobos have them, but some don't. If that's the case the SLK900-A should work, it has the standard screwdriver clip. The SLK900-U requires the mounting holes.

Yeah them Vantecs really push a ton of air. If your not overclocking, theirs no real need for a super-duper cooler.
