OCing a P4B 2.4

k i have overclocked it to 2.8 and it runs stable but when i go over 2.8 it shuts down the computer during games and in when using sisoftware its really slow is it my proccesor or a componet that shuts down the computer? anyone have the same issue? i dont think the ram is the issue..but im not sure

Could be the limits of your processor as some are better then others---could also be your memory, have you locked your pci bus down so nothing is taking a beating?
Monitoring your temps?

could be a heat shutdown, but more than likely you're gonna have to raise your voltage a LITTLE bit. don't raise the voltage too much because it is the direct cause of heat/overheat.

i would say that much over 2.8 is going to become more of a problem than it is worth, generally around +20% is the line where heat becomes a big player, and you have to consistently jump the voltage to maintain stability.

Make sure that your ram can handle the raised FSB and that you're supplying it with enough voltage as well.

running stock cooling? might consider something copper based if your temps are hanging around the 50C level.

My temps Idle hang around the 50C level, I have been looking into a new heatsink and fan, I want a new one but I also dont want to work hard installing it like I would with the Swiftech ones, any suggestions?
