Systems Average comp temp?

Hi,

I really don't know anything about this oc stuff, all I wana do is run my computer at stock without any problems. My concern is my computer tempturature. I have a p4 2.8 my temperatures as shown by Corecenter are:

CPU avg: 43 C (it says 52 C in the bios)
Sys avg: 43 C
NB avg: 28 C

i still havent put the side of the chasis back yet so those temps will probably go up after that. Is this a bit too hot??

Thanks for any opinions!

doesn't sound excessive to me, but remember the room temperature will have a large effect on cooling.
also i was under the impression that running with the sides off messed up your cooling as the correct airflow path was gone to pot. that said, at the mo' i have no sides on my case and very rarely run with two sides on, normally just one.

too big a difference in temps there, 43C-52C, check it out
cooler is better, and room temp is a big factor

Do you have an Abit motherboard?

Some board report the temp wrong in BIOS, also, if you're using cpucool or have an NT based windows version (2k or XP), the temps won't be full load when read in windows, so may paint an incomplete picture.
As it stands, those temps look ok, 52 is a bit on the high side though, what sort of cooling system/cpu do you have?

Ive got the MSI 865PE-S motherboard

I run only on the heatsink and fan that the CPU came with (Intel p4 2.8C w/HT) everything in my system is stock.

I got a GF4 Ti4200 Video Card...
1 CD drive
2 Hard drives
errr.....thats about it

I got an enermax power supply which has an extra fan on it, I don't know how much that helps..

What do you mean by that nukes? Does XP help in cooling or something?

nForce2 BIOS's are notorious for their misread temperatures. I don't trust mine, but I know my 2500+ is running at 2800+ speeds exactly, with an overclocked Ti 4200 and running fully stable. BIOS reads around 45-48c, but I don't trust it.

IMO your computer is not extremely hot or sopmething to worry about. My computer is not Overclocked and its average temperature (CPU) is 56 C. I have tried to cool it down with software coolers such as CpuIdle but they dont seem to help. My computer run without any problems so I dont really take my temperature as a high one, but of course its not low. Maybe if you are really worried about it you could buy some extra fans too keep your system from becomming to hot.
