IMO it couldn't be easier, and you would probably have a lot fewer headaches, but its your choice. If you prefer windows, thats fine. Just I would really advise against using IIS, and that leaves Apache (and a few others, but I've no experience with them) and the config for apache is pretty much the same on both Windows and Linux, so you wouldn't be doing much more with that, the only thing you need to know is that /etc/init.d holds the service scripts, so you can start apache with "/etc/init.d/apache start" and stop it with "/etc/init.d/apache stop" These are called from symlinks (like shortcuts) from a directory representing a runlevel. Some distros (Mandrake and Redhat) make running such a server very easy, and all the docs go in /var/htdocs or /var/www.
Also, that way you won't get grief for pirating software.
