Outdoors 45.23 warning with nvDVD2.0

Upon installing the new WinME 45.23 nVidia drivers for a GeForce FX 5600 AGP when I try to play a DVD disc (movie) the screen looks like it is displaying 256 colors. ONLY the playing of a DVD disc is concerned, the desktop and PC games have no display problems at all. In order to play a DVD I use nvDVD 2.0 which came with the FX 5600.

Upon re-installing the 44.23 drivers the DVD disc colors and display are just fine.

I would like to know whether or not some of you are experiencing the same problem and whether there would be a way to correct this problem.

PNY said "we don't know" anything about it. nVidia says "See PNY for nvDVD support"....!

Thank you very much.

Did you remove the previous det's and then install the new ones or did you install over your old ones? Here is a method I use when istalling new video drivers. I use a utility call driver cleaner. First, remove your exisiting drivers from the add/remove in control panel. Next, reboot comp to safe mode. Run driver cleaner utility to search for registry keys associated with the previous drivers. After cleaning everything out, install your new drivers. Reboot back to normal mode and you're done. Do a google search for driver cleaner. This method has never failed me and ensures that you get a good, clean install which is exactly what you want.

Thanks for answering Calmhorizons.

I finally was able to correct this issue. NVidia has on its web site a patch for nvDVD 2.0. As soon as I installed this patch I was able to keep the new 45.23 drivers AND watch dvd movies
