Food AMD Sounds Good To Me

I have been wanting to upgrade lately but have been scared of the prices. I was originally thinking of the P4 2.4c and Asus P4P800 Deluxe Mobo, which were gonna be $515 canadian before taxes. Now after studying these forums I have been relieved to see I can get GREAT gaming out of a Barton 2500+ and a A7N8X nForce2 mobo, which will run me $320. Thats a big difference. Does anyone have suggestions to add to making this computer. More parts, ram, etc. Or better mobo thats still afffordable. You gotta love AMD.

Im not really sure in US$ maybe check the prices on the chips in US and Canadian to compare at a rough estimate. Exchange rate of 30%to maybe even 40% i would think? I have been scouring the forums and havent really come up with a good MOBO yet. Is it possible to get a good mobo that will be upgradable into the future? Or do they all just obselete themselves anyways? For a V card I have found the ATI Radeon 9200 pro sounds good thus far in the forums. Its expensive for me, on the budget i am gonna spend i guess. Any suggestions??

well tell us what your budget is . in your pretty money is fine i am sure we can convert it to USD .

as for motherboards to a point there really isn't a big "upgrade path " in the next few months they will change the "platform " so all that is being used now will pretty much be dead . but thats not really a big deal because the systems today are really fast . but without knowing how much u want to spend total your gonna get alot of people telling you to get some high end stuff . so it will really be no help .

Ok so they are going to change the platform? What do you mean. Maybe i will wait then? Im not really sure what my budget is. I would have to wait and hear my wifes reactions to each price suggestion i guess hehe. I am looking for cheap, but not cheap. I dont wanna buy really high end stuff and pay for the newness really. I want to be able to play games good if not great, but not pay 700 for a video card.
