Long Range Network

Ok well me and a few neighbors wanna invest in a satellite internet but we live like 1/4 mile apart or a lil less. But how would we network our pc's for a shared internet connection.

do you have a clear line of site to both of the houses?

How much is your budget to create this network?

The only real option is wireless. the problem with alot of wireless networks is that interfernce plays a big part. Espically for home network designed products. Plus if your into gaming satellite internet is not the way to go. but i guess why your wanting it is because that is all that is offered in your area correct?

You could use IR. I knew some people using a microwave setup but that cost like 700/each.

Extend Your Wi-Fi Range

Maybe be able to try one of these solutions.

There are a lot of community networks springing up. The legality of them varies from ISP to ISP, and also on the local regulations about braodcasting and stuff.

But it is pretty easy to set up a wireless community network. There may even be one already in your neighbourhood!

Check here for a list of some.

Cheers
Mick

I know there are a lot springing up...but there are a lot of ISPs taking people to court over it...they're losing ... but they are fighting it.
