Gaming Best Computer! Opinions!

Hey Mates,
Im going to buy a computer soon and I want to know your opinion on which one I should buy. This computer is going o be a monster one. But I really need it too have all quality stuff, and best performance you can get in a very low price. Im about to pay about $1500. But I really need a monster computer. You can give your opinion, wether is a "own made" one or one from a brand. I would like something in this style:
-1 GB RAM
-256 MB Graphic Card
-20-40 GB HD ( I dont want a big one)
P.S: I would really want a 10k RPM on it, if its 10k then the HD
can be smaller.
-A LCD Monitor
-A Motherboard with a lot of space (for example for the RAM)
-Intel P4 2.8-3.2 GHz (Sorry AMD fans, this time Intel)

I wold love and appreciate all your opinions, I really need some advice. Im going to play a lot on this computer. One thing im confused about is which OS (Windows please since Im going to play games on this one) Windows 2k or XP? or Others? Oh, and dont include the OS on the price, since I fix that later. Remember that it cant be very expensive. Im sounding like im someone thats forcing you guys to find this! Dont really want to sound like it and of course I know a lot of ppl that enjoy searching the web. Well thanks and I am really excited. The better Computer, the better smile, the better price, the better my wallet! Lmao!
Thanks a lot

Regards

research the parts and build it yourself. everyone here is going to tell you to go the building route. building is relatively easy, and the price will be drastically cheaper.
Some suggestions though:
--minimum of PC2700 Ram
--128mb graphic card, not much difference between 128 & 256
--7.2k rpm hdd won't get as hot as a 10k. just look for better seek times IMO.
--If you're going to be heavy into gaming go with a CRT monitor. better picture quality, and much better refresh rates. but if you're still enamored with an LCD check out www.techforless.com, thay have really good prices on refurbished monitors and they get really $$cheap$$ on good name brands!!
--sorry to hear about your ditching AMD for this one.

Side question: You gonna OC???

Thanks CraigK for your excellent opinion!
Yeah, I just dont want AMD because I have heard rummors that all the "better than intel" is all bull. And I have seen benchmarks (latest, ShawnD1 showed on a post of his):
Intel Beats AMD!
So im doubting about AMD, like they are very cheap but maybe they really are bad in performance compared to Intel.

Thanks for the 7.2k advice, helped me! LCD screen for me though, takes less space, quality in images and games is excellent IMO. I just want a really nice and good Computer in a nice and good price. Like I said $1500 will be great! But can I find a computer that I want for that price? And what is this HT of Intel? Didnt get it. But as I said Im doubting AMD.

OC? What is that? Didnt get it

Thanks Mate
Regards

oc = overclock
ht = hyperthreding

if you want 10k get a sata raptor - its a 36gb drive

lcd isnt as good for games unless you buy a good one (read expensive) because it will ghost

i would recomend geli for good cheep ram

what do you mean

neither Intel nor AMD is better than the other really. different standards and what-not.

If you wanna buy a pre-made one try www.ibuypower.com, the have some good systems. check with www.resellerratings.com first though. you can weight the pros and cons yourself

If your gonna buy LCD stick with NEC, Sony, or Viewsonic IMO

If you are limiting yourself to 1500 dollars, then set aside about half of it for a good size LCD, or a third for a REALLY nice CRT. Hyperthreading is very cool, but its not really that useful for gaming, it shines when you are doing processor intensive things like graphics rendering and AutoCAD. Crucial has some good deals on RAM occasionally, and if you are going Intel, I have heard that Soyo makes a good board, but Asus is the best IMO.
I'm just curious, but AMD and CRT monitors are cheaper, yet you want to use Intel and LCD monitors, which are vastly more expensive. Why?
