hub vs router for new pc

Hello,

I am ordering a new PC (from NCIX.com, if that matters), and am wondering wether to get an Internet Router or a network hub. The current PC our household has is a P3 500 Mhz with a DSL line from our ISP. All i want to do is use the net independantly on the new PC I am ordering. I think what I need is a router, but NCIX.com does not offer one with it's systems (the only option it gives you is network hub). Anyways, what should I do? Order the router seperately or get a hub?

Thanks.

also, does the new PC need a network card?

i would get the router because of two things

1) will give you protection from the internet

2) just in case you want to expand your network the router will share out the internet, the hub will not. personally i would not buy it from NCIX.com. You can pick a cheap linksys or d-link from your local best buy.

and this is how the router will connect

internet----->cable modem---->router--->pc

so yes you will need a network in the pc

it took us 5 minutes to hook up our router to our pc's and no time at all to hook up a hub
