Systems Home alone. Need Help administering win 2000 server as admin

Greetings everyone.
I am a programmer, not a network guy.
My boss doesn't know the difference.
Need to reset a password of one computer in the workgroup, that doesn't respond anymore. Also need to connect shared printer in a couple of computers in the worgroup. Anyone kind enough to step-by-step me and avoid my getting fired?

What do you mean "that doesn't respond anymore"? Can you log on to the pc or did you forget the password?

As far as shared printers go, what kind of printer? Is the printer connected to your server? Is it already shared? If so all you need to do is go to each PC that you want to add the printer to. Click Start>Settings>Printers>Add Printer, choose network printer, click the middle option and then click next. A list of PC's on your network should appear, double click the pc with the printer attached to it, then double click that printer to select it.

Love you man! Got the login done. I have been able to bypass the password. Don't know how, but at least the girl is able to work now. Going for the printers. Thanks again.

Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but:

This network, is it on a domain with users authenticating to the server? If so, you can go through Active Directory to reset a user's password.

Click Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers, and a Microsoft Management Console will come up with 2 panes. In the left pane, you should see an option called Users. Click on it and you should see a list of the different groups and users in the right pane. Right click on a user of choice and choose the "Reset Password" option, and a box will pop up where you can give it a new password, and a couple of options like:

user must change password after first logon, and etc...

This may be an anally retentive answer, but it may help you out later on down the line...

Thank you Ptrper.
Got that done as you said and worked ok.
This is an abnormal situation. Nobody's in charge.
Tha mayority of user's login with the admin user name
and password . Incredible. (This is my second day on the job, and I am a programmer, not a network person.) I have just been told to do it. And I will do it, with goodwilling people like you lending an helping hand. Thank You.

Here goes another one:

Window 2000: Trying to print to a TCP/IP port.
Error.
TCP/IP us a component of the network and it is checked.
Not sure if the setup is complete though.
Printer port is TCP/IP by default.
Please advise.

Have a nice day.

What type of printer is it? Is it a network printer that has a NIC card in it, or a regular deskjet that is attached to a pc with the parallel cable? What are the OS's we are dealing with here and is this a peer to peer network or domain? We need some better info.
