Kids extract a single from restore CD

Is there a way to extract a single file from a RESTORE CD in Win ME? I don't need a total resoration, just two files that got corrupted. They cannot be found from a search of the 3 CD's. Specifically, inetcpl.cpl and msiexec.exe.

yep....

run "msconfig" and then you'll see a "extract file"..and yoy type in the name of the file.

Of course, you said "restore cd" so Im not sure how that will work..I know it works off the cab files on a regular ME cd.

Or possibly the files are in a folder on your C: drive somewhere, maybe a "WinME" folder or in "C:windows/options/cabs"

file extraction

One of the CD's must be Me...

Where do I tell it to extract from or will it figure it out on its own?

make it point to each cd one at a time, hopefully it will find them, lol. Im not sure with restore cd's.

In w98se there was a tool called "sfc" and it allowed you to browse for the files, I think the ME one searches by itself.

I asked the wrong question.. what I meant was... when I do what you said, do I need to point anywhere when 'extracting'?

you may have to know where the file GOES...asin where are you extracted it TO....but probably not...cuz it says somethign like "choose file to RESTORE"..so hopefully it will figure it out for you. Im not on a ME machine right now so I cant look at it.

The msiexec and also the inetcpl.cpl both go into your windows/system folder

Its possible you could even do a search on google and find those files.

Okay - I have installed a clean copy of inetcpl.cpl... When I try to log on to the Comcast site, it still tells me I need to allow cookies. I've tried every which way with the privacy settings to allow cookies. No luck. My son's laptop has the same settings that my PC is stuck on and it DOES allow me to log in w/o that annoying cookie message. What the heck???
