How to choose an LCD monitor?

Greetings!

Was hoping someone could give me a few pointers on what to look for when choosing an LCD monitor. What to avoid? Things like that.

Much appreciated!

Depends on what you want to do with it. You want to look at prices(of course), native resolution, does it have dvi or crt connectors, brightness, ghosting.

Avoid "cheap" ones---
The Samsungs are very nice---have a look at the 191T, a friend has a black one and its awesome---
Good place to compare specs/appearance/cost etc is thru Newegg as they have over 30 LCD manufacturers listed...

Newegg has a back to school special on a 17" Samsung for 350 dolllars. I've got the 15" model for 2 years now and its great. Seems like a really good price to me

Talk LCD Monitor

thanks........I am very familiar with Newegg.

I guess I should be a little more specific in what I am looking for. oops.

Anyway, I am looking for a 17~18" and will be used between games and some work.

However, I guess what I am asking is what specs do I look for when trying to choose? I see something called ratio 350:1 or 400:1, is higher better? Are there any other specs to take a look at when deciding?

Thanks again

That is the contrast ratio, so higher is better. For other specs, see my first post.
